About Barclays

Barclays plc is a British universal bank headquartered in London. It is one of the largest financial institutions in the United Kingdom and one of the principal global investment banks, providing retail, corporate, wealth, private, and investment banking services to individual, business, and institutional customers in approximately forty countries. The Barclays group traces its origins to a goldsmith banker in Lombard Street, London, in 1690, and has grown over more than three centuries through repeated mergers and acquisitions, including the formation of Barclay & Company in 1896 from twenty private banks and the integration of Martins Bank in 1969. The company is structured around several operating divisions — including Barclays UK, Barclays UK Corporate Bank, Barclays Private Bank and Wealth Management, Barclays Investment Bank, and Barclays US Consumer Bank — which together serve millions of personal customers and many of the world's largest corporations. Barclays operates a substantial technology, operations, and shared-services footprint in India through Barclays Global Service Centre Private Limited, with major centres in Pune, Chennai, and Noida supporting engineering, data, risk, finance, operations, and cyber-security work for the group's UK and global businesses. The company has invested heavily in cloud, data, and digital banking platforms and is publicly listed on the London and New York stock exchanges under the ticker BARC and BCS respectively. Indian fresher and early-career hiring at Barclays is principally routed through its Tech Early Careers programme, with software-engineer, data-engineer, cyber-security, quantitative-analytics, and operations roles offered out of the Pune, Chennai, and Noida campuses.
