About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is looking for a Test Automation Engineer focused on Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking. The position is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka and expects the candidate to work onsite at an HPE office. You will design, develop and automate test plans that validate networking features, platform stability and end‑to‑end solution behavior across hardware and software components.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain automated test frameworks using Python (preferably PyTest) and extend reusable libraries.
Design feature, platform and system‑level test cases for switching, routing, resiliency and high‑availability scenarios.
Execute hardware bring‑up, interface verification, boot/upgrade/ISSU, reboot and recovery tests.
Utilize traffic generators such as Spirent or Ixia to perform functional, performance and scale testing, automating their operation where possible.
Analyze failures, debug cross‑layer issues and collaborate with engineering teams for root‑cause analysis.
Document test coverage, defects, risks and provide status updates to stakeholders; support customer escalations by reproducing issues in lab environments.

Eligibility

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is a plus.
2–5 years of experience in networking, platform or system‑level product validation or quality assurance.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with an automation‑first mindset.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to work with development, architecture and customer‑facing groups.

Skills

Proficiency in Python and test automation frameworks (PyTest, Robot Framework).
Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts, VLANs, LAG/LACP, spanning‑tree, OSPF, BGP, ISIS.
Experience with traffic‑generation tools such as Spirent or Ixia.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and lab automation.
Knowledge of high‑availability, redundancy and scalability testing.
