Software Development Engineer II - Web

About the role

JioStar is seeking a Software Development Engineer II (Web) to design and deliver high‑performance front‑end platforms for its streaming services. Based in Bangalore, you will work with React, Next.js and TypeScript to build scalable video player interfaces and improve core web vitals.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of complex front‑end systems using React, Next.js and TypeScript.
• Optimize application performance, core web vitals, startup time, buffering and memory usage.
• Ensure cross‑browser and cross‑device consistency across desktop, mobile web and Smart TV platforms.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers and UX designers to turn wireframes into reusable components and integrate video playback engines (HTML5, MSE, EME).
• Implement analytics, observability and security best practices, and troubleshoot production issues.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2‑4 years of professional experience in modern web development.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently.

Skills

• Expert in TypeScript, React, Next.js and CSS‑in‑JS (styled‑components or Tailwind).
• Hands‑on experience with HTML5 video players such as Shaka, HLS.js, Video.js or Dash.js.
• Proficient with build tools (Webpack, Vite, Rollup) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiar with automated testing frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library and Playwright.
• Knowledge of streaming protocols HLS and MPEG‑DASH, DRM and security practices.
