Software Engineer (Frontend Platform) – Native Git

About the role

Postman is looking for a Software Engineer to own the development of native Git‑based developer workflows. You will work on a desktop‑class product built with React, TypeScript and Electron, delivering secure, performant features that integrate tightly with the filesystem and command‑line tools used by millions of developers.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure, scalable Git‑native workflows for both visual UI and CLI experiences.
• Build product features using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Electron and related APIs.
• Create reliable synchronization mechanisms that handle conflicts, retries and partial failures without data loss.
• Address cross‑platform challenges across macOS, Windows, Linux and WSL, including file‑system permissions and process management.
• Optimize performance for large repositories, deep file trees, and heavy data operations.
• Improve reliability through automated testing, observability, diagnostics and clear recovery paths.

Eligibility

• 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience with production‑grade features.
• Strong command of JavaScript, TypeScript, React and Node.js.
• Hands‑on experience with APIs, databases (relational or NoSQL) and data modeling.
• Practical understanding of Git, filesystems, command‑line tools and cross‑platform development.
• Ability to design asynchronous systems with solid concurrency, consistency and error‑handling strategies.
• Commitment to writing testable, maintainable, secure and high‑performance code.
