About the role
The Platform Software Development Engineer will work onsite at HPE’s Bangalore campus, designing and building software components that bridge hardware and operating systems. You will contribute to platform‑level engineering, debugging, and performance optimisation for a range of HPE products.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software subsystems for platform engineering, OS, networking and hardware‑software integration.
- Analyse requirements, write code, and create test and validation scripts to ensure reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with hardware and platform teams to resolve integration challenges and drive system‑level solutions.
- Lead assigned engineering projects, mentor junior engineers and coordinate with external development partners.
- Perform root‑cause analysis, debugging and optimisation of complex software and platform issues.

Eligibility
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Typically 4–8 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Strong fundamentals in computer architecture, operating systems and hardware‑software interaction.
Skills
- Proficiency in C, C++ and Python with solid OOP concepts.
- Experience with embedded systems and platform components such as I2C, PCIe, Linux kernel, device drivers, FPGA, NVMe, CPU, GPIO, SerDes and optics.
- Good understanding of Linux/Unix environments and networking concepts.
- Ability to develop test plans, automation scripts and perform system‑level validation.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
