Senior Software Engineer, Frontend Platform

About the role

Handshake is seeking a senior frontend engineer to lead the Frontend Platform team. You will design and evolve reusable TypeScript and React components, shape the design system, and improve developer tooling, all while ensuring accessibility and leveraging AI to boost productivity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reusable TypeScript/React components and APIs used across Handshake applications.
• Drive the evolution of the design system, balancing consistency, flexibility, and accessibility.
• Enhance the frontend developer experience with clear CI/CD pipelines, testing, builds, and release processes.
• Integrate AI‑based tools into daily workflows for code understanding, generation, testing, and documentation.
• Strengthen CI/CD infrastructure, including linting, packaging, and automated checks.
• Collaborate with product engineers, designers, and PMs to gather requirements and ensure adoption of shared solutions.
• Lead projects from definition through rollout, documentation, and iterative improvement.
• Mentor engineers, conduct design and code reviews, and promote best practices.

Eligibility

• 5+ years of professional frontend development experience.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Proven experience building reusable component libraries or design systems.
• Strong understanding of browser fundamentals, performance, testing, and accessibility.
• Experience with CI/CD, monorepos, and developer tooling.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across engineering, design, and product.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into maintainable, widely adopted solutions.
