About Caterpillar
Caterpillar makes machines for construction, mining and quarrying, plus diesel and gas engines, generator sets, gas turbines and locomotives for oil and gas, power generation, marine and rail customers. Cat Financial, its financing arm, funds customers and dealers who buy or lease its equipment. In 2025 it reported sales and revenues of about US$67.6 billion and had about 118,000 full-time employees, some 66,400 of them outside the United States.
In India it began manufacturing more than 50 years ago at Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. It also has sites at Hosur, Tamil Nadu, where it builds and develops engines, generator sets and transmissions under the Cat and Perkins brands, and at Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Its technical centre in Chennai does product development and engineering, including design and simulation-based validation, for Caterpillar product groups worldwide, and its careers site lists technology, digital and data roles there, such as cloud platform and Java application work. Its Bengaluru office manages its dealers for India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.
