About the role

Caterpillar is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Digital and Data technology team in India. The role focuses on building and scaling world‑class web platforms using React, TypeScript and modern front‑end tooling, while also contributing to backend and cloud components.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and deploy high‑performance React applications and associated services.
Lead complex technical problem solving, including off‑shift support and incident resolution.
Mentor junior engineers and enforce best‑practice coding standards.
Collaborate with product owners, UX designers and end‑users to translate requirements into reliable software.
Write comprehensive documentation, test plans and user guides.
Participate in Agile (Scrum) ceremonies and drive continuous improvement.

Eligibility

Four‑year undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field).
Minimum five years of professional software development experience.
At least three years of hands‑on experience building applications with ReactJS.
Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms and computer‑science fundamentals.

Skills

React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Sass, Bootstrap.
State management with Redux and testing with Jest/React Testing Library.
Version control (Git), package management (NPM), build tools (Webpack, Babel).
CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GoCD, Azure DevOps) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, and architectural patterns such as MVC, micro‑services and event‑driven design.
Agile/Scrum development methodology.
