About the role

Target is looking for a software engineer to design, build, and maintain robust, scalable components that power its retail platforms. The role blends rapid feature delivery with strong emphasis on code quality, operational reliability, and continuous learning of emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high‑performance, secure software components that meet architectural standards.
• Diagnose and resolve operational issues with minimal supervision while ensuring system capacity.
• Conduct code and design reviews to uphold quality and functional accuracy across the team.
• Participate in disaster‑recovery planning, functional integration testing, and automation of test scripts.
• Evaluate new technologies, contribute to proof‑of‑concept initiatives, and assist in lifecycle management of services.
• Collaborate in design ceremonies, architecture discussions, and implementation activities following best practices.

Eligibility

• Four‑year degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 1 year of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and solid understanding of object‑oriented concepts.
• Familiarity with distributed programming, SQL databases, and problem‑solving techniques.
• Ability to learn and apply emerging technologies within the product domain.
• Working knowledge of transaction codes or master‑data concepts relevant to enterprise packages.
