Staff Frontend Engineer

About the role

bunch is seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to own and evolve the client‑side architecture of its private‑markets platform. Working remotely from Portugal, you will lead the migration from Svelte to React, raise UI/UX standards, and embed AI‑assisted tooling into the development workflow, all while collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Drive the end‑to‑end migration of the frontend stack from Svelte to React, ensuring minimal disruption to product delivery.
• Maintain and extend the design system, enabling product teams to ship consistent and accessible interfaces quickly.
• Guide cross‑team frontend initiatives, covering architecture, performance, testing strategy, and technical debt reduction.
• Raise the bar for UI quality through design reviews, reusable patterns, mentorship, and clear technical documentation.
• Explore and integrate AI‑driven coding tools, shaping module boundaries and API contracts to support both developers and intelligent agents.
• Map the existing frontend landscape in the first month and deliver a measurable improvement initiative within the first ninety days.

Eligibility

• Proven experience at a staff‑level or equivalent, with a track record of delivering systemic frontend improvements across multiple squads.
• Deep expertise in modern frontend engineering, especially TypeScript, React, component architecture, state management, and design systems.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development workflows and a clear perspective on their practical value.
• Strong product judgment – ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into elegant user experiences.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
