About the role

Sophos is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join its Central Operations team. The position is remote‑first and focuses on building, maintaining and improving the cloud‑native infrastructure that powers Sophos’ security services for millions of customers worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery of high‑quality changes to live SaaS infrastructure while adhering to agile planning.
  • Operate and support critical systems, ensuring availability and performance for a large customer base.
  • Participate in a weekday/weekend on‑call rotation and respond to incidents escalated from support and development teams.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, identify weaknesses, and propose or implement improvements.
  • Publish software updates in line with product release schedules, tracking load and taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams to drive reliability initiatives.

Eligibility

  • 2‑4 years of hands‑on experience with Amazon Web Services.
  • Proven ability to work remotely and obtain legal authorization for the Indian jurisdiction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, SSM, S3 and Secrets Manager.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform.
  • Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting for automation.
  • Familiarity with relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL, RDS) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
  • Use of monitoring and alerting tools like PagerDuty, Datadog, CloudWatch, Logz.io.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (LAN, WAN) and security fundamentals.
