Software Engineer Intern

About the role

Smarsh is offering a paid, hybrid Software Engineer internship in Bangalore where interns will contribute to the enterprise compliance platform using Java, micro‑services and AI/ML tools. The role blends hands‑on backend development with mentorship, Agile ceremonies and real‑world AI project integration.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to design and deliver new features for the compliance platform.
• Write clean, well‑tested Java code for backend services and REST APIs.
• Participate in a micro‑services architecture, learning how distributed systems scale.
• Engage in Agile activities such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups and retrospectives.
• Take part in code reviews and pair‑programming sessions to improve code quality.
• Explore and prototype AI/ML solutions that can be applied to engineering problems.

Eligibility

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s/Master’s in Engineering, Computer Science or MCA.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and core computer‑science concepts.
• Hands‑on experience with Core Java.
• Must have built at least one demonstrable AI‑enabled project (LLM API, ML model, etc.).

Skills

• Core Java programming.
• Data structures and algorithms.
• AI/ML project implementation.
• Understanding of micro‑services and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Angular and TypeScript is a plus.
