Associate Software Engineer – IT

About the role

Flex is hiring fresh engineering graduates for an Associate Software Engineer position in Chennai. The role offers exposure to core software development fundamentals as well as emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, generative AI, cloud services, data analytics and automation. Candidates will work on real‑world projects, collaborate with global teams and develop skills across the full technology stack.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining software applications using languages like Python, Java, C# or JavaScript.
• Support automation initiatives that streamline business processes.
• Contribute to data‑analytics and visualization tasks to derive actionable insights.
• Participate in cloud‑related projects and gain hands‑on experience with cloud platforms.
• Engage in AI and generative‑AI projects, applying tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or Claude.
• Follow the software development lifecycle from requirement gathering to testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional and global teams, attending workshops, hackathons and innovation challenges.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree (B.E or B.Tech) in Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology or Artificial Intelligence & Data Science.
• Strong foundation in programming fundamentals, OOP, data structures, algorithms, DBMS, networking and operating systems.
• Open to fresh graduates as well as candidates with limited professional experience.

Skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, SQL).
• Understanding of object‑oriented concepts, data structures and algorithms.
• Basic knowledge of databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with computer networking and operating system basics.
• Awareness of the software development lifecycle.
• Introductory cloud computing concepts.
• Interest in generative AI and practical use of AI coding assistants.
