Senior Frontend Software Engineer, Consumer Engineering

About the role

Reddit is looking for a senior frontend engineer to join its Consumer Engineering team. You will design, build, and ship high‑impact web experiences used by over 130 million daily users, collaborating across product, design, data, and mobile squads while operating fully remotely.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product, design, data science and mobile engineers to translate user needs into low‑latency, reliable frontend solutions.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery from technical design and API contracts through development, testing, rollout and observability.
• Design, implement and evaluate A/B experiments using tools such as BigQuery, HEX or Firebase.
• Build and maintain scalable GraphQL/REST APIs and ensure optimal UI performance.
• Establish best‑practice engineering standards, improve developer workflows and mentor teammates.

Eligibility

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably 6+ years focused on frontend.
• Strong user‑centric mindset with an ability to advocate for product usability.
• Data‑driven decision making and comfort working with experiments and metrics.
• Self‑directed, bias‑for‑action attitude in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote setting.

Skills

• Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, ES6 and modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, Lit/Polymer).
• Proficiency with CSS, HTML, and responsive design.
• Experience building and consuming GraphQL, REST, HTTP APIs.
• Familiarity with data‑analysis tools (BigQuery, Firebase) and A/B testing.
• Interest in AI‑assisted development tools and modern CI/CD workflows.
