Front End Software Engineer, Media Player

About the role

Reddit is looking for a Front End Software Engineer to shape the next generation of its web media player. You will work remotely, collaborating with product, design, and backend teams to deliver low‑latency video and audio experiences using modern web technologies.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product, design, and engineering peers to turn strategy into user‑focused features.
• Own the full development lifecycle: design, code, test, experiment, analyze, and launch.
• Build end‑to‑end solutions, crafting React/TypeScript UI components and supporting Go/Python APIs.
• Maintain high velocity while ensuring code quality and minimizing critical bugs.
• Review code and design docs, provide feedback on specs and mockups.
• Mentor junior engineers and champion best‑practice standards.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong communication skills for remote collaboration across diverse teams.

Skills

• React, TypeScript, Next.js, and modern JavaScript.
• Experience building and consuming GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, or Thrift APIs.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Go or Python.
• Ability to translate complex UI/UX designs into scalable web applications.
• Solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
