Lead Software Engineer

About the role

As a Lead Software Engineer at JP Morgan Chase, you will drive the design, development, and delivery of high‑performance Java‑based solutions on AWS and Kafka platforms. Working within the Consumer & Community Banking division, you will champion AI‑assisted engineering practices, ensure secure, scalable code, and guide a team toward operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement innovative software solutions, handling design, development, and complex troubleshooting beyond routine approaches.
• Write secure, production‑grade code, conduct peer reviews, and debug contributions from team members.
• Promote enterprise‑approved AI‑assisted tools for coding, code review, testing acceleration, and incident analysis, establishing validation standards.
• Leverage the full SDLC toolchain, including AI‑driven automation, to enhance development efficiency.
• Identify and automate recurring remediation tasks to boost application stability.
• Lead evaluation workshops with vendors, startups, and internal groups to assess architectural designs and technical fit.

Eligibility

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with at least five years of hands‑on experience.
• Proven track record delivering system design, application development, testing, and maintaining operational stability.
• Deep expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, AWS, NoSQL databases, Kafka, and caching mechanisms.
• Experience guiding teams in the responsible use of AI‑assisted development tools, ensuring correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong knowledge of responsible AI practices, data sensitivity, and secure handling within engineering workflows.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Familiarity with financial services industry IT systems.
• Hands‑on cloud‑native development experience.
