Software Engineer I (Frontend)

About the role

OLX India is seeking a Frontend Engineer to design and deliver high‑performance, scalable web applications for its classifieds marketplace. You will work on React and Next.js codebases, ensure SEO friendliness, and collaborate closely with backend teams to provide smooth user experiences for millions of daily visitors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain sophisticated React/Next.js applications using modern state‑management patterns.
• Lead server‑side rendering and static‑site generation efforts while optimizing for SEO and performance.
• Integrate frontend features with backend APIs, define contracts, and implement caching strategies such as Redis.
• Profile, debug, and fine‑tune the application for speed, reliability, and resource efficiency.
• Drive unit, integration and end‑to‑end testing, and uphold CI/CD quality gates.
• Mentor peers, conduct code reviews, and champion security, observability, and architectural best practices.

Eligibility

• 2‑3 years of relevant frontend development experience.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Redux and Next.js (SSR/SSG).
• Strong grasp of HTML, CSS, responsive design and accessibility standards.
• Hands‑on experience with Node.js, caching solutions like Redis, and performance optimization.
• Proven ability to implement technical SEO and frontend performance tuning.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks and modern build tools, plus good communication and leadership skills.
