About the role

Hiver is seeking a senior backend engineer (SDE III) to design, build, and scale the core services that power its AI‑driven customer‑service platform. You will own critical product surfaces, create high‑performance APIs, and collaborate with AI, product, and design teams to deliver reliable, intelligent experiences for millions of emails processed daily.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and scale backend systems to support growing traffic and AI workloads.
  • Develop low‑latency inference endpoints, caching layers, and model‑serving pipelines.
  • Enhance reliability, resiliency, and performance across monolith and micro‑service architectures.
  • Design event‑driven data flows using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Partner with ML/AI teams to deploy embeddings, rerankers, and retrieval‑augmented generation pipelines.
  • Implement secure, compliant data handling and own observability (tracing, metrics, dashboards, SLOs).

Eligibility

  • Minimum 5 years of experience building and scaling production backend systems.
  • Strong expertise in at least one of Go, Java, Python, or Ruby on Rails.
