Software Development Engineer - I

About the role

GoKwik is looking for a Software Development Engineer I to design, build, and maintain high‑performance backend services that power its eCommerce growth platform. You will work with Node.js, NestJS, and cloud technologies to deliver scalable APIs and collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise backend services using Node.js and NestJS, with occasional exposure to Go.
• Design and implement scalable APIs and data stores leveraging PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Participate in event‑driven system design using Kafka and assist senior engineers with distributed architecture challenges.
• Contribute end‑to‑end features, including occasional frontend work with React or Svelte.
• Write clean, testable code and engage in peer code reviews.
• Investigate production incidents, determine root causes, and apply long‑term fixes.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and deployments on AWS.
• Work closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to ensure high‑quality product delivery.

Eligibility

• 2–3 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and problem‑solving.
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS.
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and AWS.
• Familiarity with Redis, Kafka, or Go is a plus.
• Effective communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
