About the role

GE Vernova Grid Solutions is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to design, implement and fine‑tune cybersecurity measures for high‑voltage substations and related OT assets. The role sits within a global engineering team, reports to the project manager and the OT Engineering Cybersecurity Leader, and offers exposure to renewable‑energy projects worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments on operational technology (OT) environments.
  • Design and deploy security controls such as firewalls, intrusion‑detection systems, access controls and network segmentation.
  • Collaborate with OT engineers, IT staff and management to embed security into system design, rollout and upkeep.
  • Stay current on emerging OT threats, standards and best practices, and propose enhancements.
  • Conduct penetration testing and guide remediation efforts for identified weaknesses.
  • Provide technical guidance on OT security policies and work with vendors to verify their security posture.

Eligibility

  • Engineering degree (B.Tech, B.E, B.Sc, etc.) preferably in Cyber Security, Computer Science, IT or Electronics.
  • Minimum 2 years of project security experience, preferably in an OT setting.
  • 2‑6 years of experience within the electrical industry or a similar role.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Skills

  • Risk and vulnerability assessment techniques.
  • Industrial control system (ICS) and SCADA knowledge.
  • Familiarity with OT protocols – Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC.
  • Understanding of IEC 62443 and NIST cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Hands‑on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS and network segmentation.
