Senior Product Design Engineer

About the role

Cal.com is looking for a senior product design engineer to lead the creation of core scheduling interfaces, turning sketches into production‑ready web components. The role is fully remote, focusing on design engineering, component library development, and ensuring high‑quality, accessible user experiences across the platform.

Responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end product surfaces, from concept through production‑ready components such as booking flows and enterprise dashboards.
• Build and test prototypes quickly using AI‑assisted tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or v0.
• Design, develop, and maintain reusable components in the coss ui library, avoiding third‑party dependencies.
• Continuously audit and improve the design system, adding new primitives and tightening existing ones.
• Apply motion thoughtfully, ensuring animations enhance rather than distract.
• Maintain strict accessibility standards, handling keyboard navigation, focus management, contrast, and ARIA compliance.
• Document decisions, hypotheses, and outcomes asynchronously for team collaboration.

Eligibility

• Strong background as a product designer who has transitioned into design engineering.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React without needing a separate engineer.
• Deep experience with headless UI primitives such as Base UI, Radix, or similar libraries.
• Hands‑on expertise in building and evolving design systems.
• Solid understanding of motion design principles and accessibility best practices.
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants daily.
