Associate Software Engineer

About the role

Amgen is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join its Operations Generative AI product team. The role focuses on building and maintaining scalable GenAI web applications that support process development functions such as drug substance and product manufacturing. You will work with Python back‑ends, FastAPI services, and React front‑ends while collaborating with cross‑functional product, design, and data teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python‑based backend services and APIs using FastAPI and Django for GenAI solutions.
• Contribute to React front‑end components, ensuring intuitive user experiences.
• Integrate large language model workflows, including retrieval‑augmented generation, prompt engineering, and agent orchestration.
• Write clean, well‑tested code and participate in GitHub code reviews following engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot issues, improve system reliability, performance, and provide operational support.
• Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to translate user needs into technical requirements.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in Python software engineering, backend or web development, or GenAI application development.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Skills

• Python development, debugging, testing, and design patterns.
• FastAPI for building backend APIs.
• React.js for front‑end development.
• Experience with large language model APIs and frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or CrewAI.
• Version control using Git and GitHub.
• SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and vector stores.
