Senior Software Engineer - Localization (GLP Team)

About the role

Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a senior engineer to lead the design and delivery of its Global Localization Platform. Based in Bangalore and working remotely, you will build and scale both backend and frontend services that enable multilingual content delivery for flagship products such as HBO Max, Discovery+ and CNN.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain high‑throughput backend services using Node.js, Java and AWS serverless components.
• Design and implement responsive frontend interfaces with React and TypeScript for internal localization tools.
• Own end‑to‑end feature delivery: from requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, to production monitoring.
• Drive architectural decisions, performance tuning, scalability and reliability improvements across the platform.
• Collaborate with product managers, copywriters and translation ops to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers, lead code reviews and champion best engineering practices.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform/CloudFormation) and observability dashboards.
• Diagnose and resolve production incidents, implementing long‑term fixes and alerting mechanisms.

Eligibility

• 5‑9 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong background in both backend (Node.js, Java) and frontend (React, TypeScript) development.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, S3, DynamoDB and EventBridge.
• Proficiency in microservice architecture, REST/gRPC, and event‑driven communication.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools and IaC frameworks.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis and Elasticsearch.
• Prior work on localization or internationalization workflows is mandatory.
• Excellent communication, documentation and mentoring skills.
