Staff Software Engineer - Front End

About the role

Walmart is looking for a senior front‑end engineer to lead the design and delivery of high‑traffic web experiences. You will shape architecture, mentor teams, and collaborate across product, UX and backend groups to build scalable, performant, and accessible applications that power Walmart’s B2B platform.

Responsibilities

• Define and champion front‑end architecture for large‑scale, high‑traffic customer experiences.
• Develop performant, accessible, responsive UI using React, TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS.
• Partner with product, UX, backend and data teams to translate ambiguous problems into scalable solutions.
• Establish engineering standards for component design, state management, API integration, testing, observability and performance.
• Drive experimentation‑ready experiences and evaluate emerging technologies.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentorship and cross‑team influence.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery from discovery through production support.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field plus 4 + years experience, or 6 + years experience without a degree.
• 8 + years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of leading complex technical initiatives.

Skills

• React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS.
• Front‑end architecture, component design, state management, bundle optimization.
• Web performance, accessibility (WCAG), security, responsive design.
• Testing frameworks (unit, integration, E2E), CI/CD pipelines.
• Node.js and cloud‑native platforms (GCP, Azure) – plus.
