Senior Frontend Engineer, Design System

About the role

Synthesia is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to co-own its design system, the React and TypeScript foundation every product team builds on, made AI-friendly with Storybook and machine-readable interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Build, scale and evolve the design system: component library, design tokens, and documentation.
• Extend the design system for AI-assisted development.
• Design component APIs that resist misuse.
• Write high-quality, performant frontend code (React/TypeScript).
• Partner closely with design, product and engineering to define components.

Eligibility

• At least five years as a software engineer, including three at senior level.
• Deep frontend expertise: expert HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript, with strong React.
• A strong command of component API design, versioning and developer experience.

Skills

• React, TypeScript, JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility and web performance.
• Comfortable building components to WCAG 2.2 AA / EN 301 549.
