About the role

Sarvam is looking for a Software Engineer to own critical pieces of its Model API Platform, which powers speech‑to‑text, text‑to‑speech, vision and large‑language‑model services for developers and enterprises across India. The role focuses on delivering ultra‑low latency, high‑throughput backend services that handle millions of API calls daily.

Responsibilities

Design, build, operate and continuously improve a major platform component such as the WebSocket streaming layer or an audio pipeline.
Translate loosely defined goals into RFCs, milestones and shipped features while documenting trade‑offs.
Take end‑to‑end ownership after launch, including on‑call duties, incident response and root‑cause analysis.
Drive performance optimisation to meet sub‑100 ms latency SLOs in a multi‑tenant environment.
Implement observability from day one with logging, metrics and tracing.
Mentor junior engineers, strengthen testing harnesses and collaborate with inference and MLOps teams.

Eligibility

4–6 years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
Proven track record of owning a service end‑to‑end under real load.
