About the role

Pattern, a fast‑growing eCommerce data platform, is looking for a Software Engineer II to join its AI Platforms team in Pune. You will design, build and operate backend services that turn raw data into automated actions for major consumer brands, working with LLM‑powered agents, tool servers and robust observability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend services that ingest events, track cases and orchestrate agent execution.
  • Ensure platform correctness through idempotency, deduplication, locking and comprehensive audit trails.
  • Build and evolve AI agents and MCP tool servers, integrating human‑in‑the‑loop approval flows.
  • Write evaluation suites and monitoring instrumentation to validate model and tool changes.
  • Collaborate across sensor, task‑management and approvals teams, occasionally coding in Python or Ruby on Rails.
  • Provide production support, including on‑call triage and incident root‑cause analysis.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience, primarily on backend systems.
