About the role

Morningstar is hiring an Associate Software Engineer for its Mumbai office. The full‑time position focuses on building scalable web applications and APIs using C#, .NET 8, AWS services and relational databases. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 1‑2 years of professional software development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain stable, high‑performance .NET‑based products for investors.
  • Apply best‑practice engineering methods such as continuous integration, test‑driven development and regular deployments.
  • Collaborate with product managers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Write unit tests, ensure application security and address production issues.
  • Work with AWS services (Lambda, Fargate, SQS) and contribute to cloud‑native architecture.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, use JIRA for tracking and promote code quality and usability.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 1‑2 years of software development experience, including at least one year building commercial‑grade web applications or scalable APIs.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively and manage multiple deliverables.

Skills

  • Strong proficiency in C# and the Microsoft .NET stack (including .NET 8 and .NET Core).
  • Experience with Web APIs, MVC, Entity Framework, LINQ and asynchronous programming.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL and advanced XML programming.
  • Practical exposure to AWS services such as Lambda, Fargate and SQS.
  • Competence in writing unit tests and implementing application security safeguards.
