Software Engineer

About the role

Microsoft is looking for early‑career software engineers to join its Windows device optimisation team in Hyderabad. The role blends system‑level programming, performance analysis and data‑driven debugging to improve how Windows runs on a wide range of hardware.

Responsibilities

• Analyse telemetry and trace data to uncover performance trends and device‑level issues.
• Investigate software and hardware interactions using debugging and profiling tools.
• Identify optimisation opportunities and design code changes that enhance speed, power usage or stability.
• Develop, test and maintain components across operating‑system and application layers.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams and incorporate feedback from code reviews.
• Validate improvements with data‑driven experiments and monitor their impact post‑deployment.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline (B.E, B.Tech, B.Sc, BCA accepted).
• Strong programming fundamentals in at least one language such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft’s security‑screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
• Fresh graduates as well as candidates with relevant internships or project experience are welcome.

Skills

• Proficiency in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python.
• Debugging and performance‑analysis techniques.
• Understanding of operating‑system concepts, memory management and CPU behaviour.
• Data analysis skills for interpreting telemetry and statistical results.
• Interest in hardware‑firmware‑OS interactions and device optimisation.
