Principal Software Engineer, Ads Platform Frontend

About the role

Microsoft is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the modernization of its Advertising Campaign UI. You will shape the frontend architecture, drive performance and scalability, and embed AI‑assisted development practices across a large, customer‑facing platform.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve shared frontend frameworks, design systems, and development patterns.
• Improve platform scalability, performance, reliability, and observability.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver innovative customer experiences.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical investigations, and design discussions for critical initiatives.
• Mentor engineers across multiple teams and raise overall technical standards.
• Advance AI‑enabled engineering practices to boost productivity and software quality.

Eligibility

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Or Master's degree with 12+ years of experience, or 15+ years with a bachelor's.
• Proven experience designing, building, and operating large‑scale customer‑facing systems.
• Strong background in modern web development, especially React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience leading architecture and technical execution across multiple teams.
