Sr Software Engineer II - Ads Manager (Front End)

About the role

Instacart is seeking a senior front‑end engineer to lead the technical roadmap of its Ads Manager platform. You will shape the architecture, build high‑performance React interfaces, and collaborate across product, design, data science, and backend teams to deliver end‑to‑end advertising solutions for brands.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long‑term frontend architecture for Ads Manager, balancing rapid delivery with scalability.
• Design, develop, and maintain React UI components for campaign creation, management, reporting and AI‑assisted features.
• Create shared component libraries, state‑management patterns, and design‑system integrations.
• Partner with backend engineers to establish robust API contracts and observability standards.
• Champion performance, reliability, and security best practices, including monitoring, logging and on‑call readiness.
• Lead modernization initiatives, refactor legacy code, and reduce technical debt.
• Mentor engineers up to L5, improve onboarding, and foster cross‑team collaboration.
• Guide the adoption of AI‑assisted development tools across the team.

Eligibility

• 8+ years of experience building large‑scale web applications.
• Deep expertise in React (hooks, state management) and Node.js.
• Strong background in frontend architecture, modularization, routing and data fetching.
• Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs and working closely with backend teams.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑stakeholder projects from design to production.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
