Software Engineer I

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Software Engineer I to join its Pune development team. The role covers the full software lifecycle – from coding and testing to deployment, documentation, and production support – while adhering to Mastercard’s security and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain application software.
• Produce clear documentation and support materials for the solutions you build.
• Evaluate alternative technical approaches and conduct feasibility studies.
• Participate in production incident management and on‑call pager rotation.
• Follow Mastercard’s secure coding practices, quality assurance, and control processes.
• Collaborate with geographically distributed project teams and contribute to project metrics.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field.
• 0 to 3 years of software engineering experience (freshers are welcome).
• Strong communication, organizational and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines.

Skills

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++ or Python.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices.
• Experience with testing, version‑control systems and secure coding principles.
• Capability to analyse requirements, design system flowcharts and perform cost‑time analysis.
• Good documentation skills and familiarity with quality assurance processes.
