Description
About the role
Honeywell is looking for an Embedded Engineer I to develop safety‑critical gas and flame detection systems. The role involves designing embedded firmware, FPGA‑based data acquisition, and laser driver control while complying with functional safety standards such as IEC 61508 SIL‑2.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded software for Cortex‑M3/M4 platforms, covering the full development lifecycle from requirements to testing.
- Create and validate FPGA interfaces for high‑speed sensor data capture, timing control, and real‑time signal processing.
- Develop laser driver firmware, including current, temperature, modulation, and calibration loops.
- Write and execute unit, integration, and system test plans using automated frameworks.
- Collaborate with optical, spectroscopy, and hardware teams to translate sensor specifications into firmware and FPGA logic.
- Produce technical documentation, progress reports, and proof‑of‑concept prototypes.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering.
- 0‑3 years of experience or fresh graduate with strong interest in embedded and control systems.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (IEC 61508, EN 60079‑29‑1) is a plus.
Skills
- Proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming.
- Experience with embedded development tools such as IAR Embedded Workbench, Eclipse, or MPLAB.
- Hands‑on knowledge of SPI, I2C, timers, watchdogs, and other wired communication protocols.
- Understanding of FPGA design using VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog and related verification tools.
- Basic signal‑processing concepts, FFT, filtering, and statistical analysis using MATLAB or similar.
