About the role

Hitachi Vantara is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the VSP One Object and Hitachi Content Platform teams in Bengaluru. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining core storage services that power cloud‑native and AI workloads, collaborating with architects, product owners, QA, DevOps and support engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test and ship new features for the Object storage portfolio, including S3‑compatible APIs and distributed metadata services.
  • Write clean, modular code with comprehensive unit and integration tests, and actively participate in peer code reviews.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex defects, performance bottlenecks, and reliability issues in distributed storage components.
  • Assist with customer escalations, performing root‑cause analysis, delivering fixes, and verifying resolutions.
  • Promote best practices for CI/CD pipelines, security hardening, CVE remediation and observability through telemetry and dashboards.
  • Contribute to automated testing frameworks covering functional, performance and scale scenarios.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2–5 years of professional software development experience, preferably with enterprise, distributed or storage systems.

Skills
