About the role

GitLab is looking for a backend‑focused Software Engineer to join the Software Delivery – Release team in Bangalore. You will work closely with Site Reliability Engineers to build and automate release tooling, improve delivery pipelines and help teams ship code faster and more safely across SaaS and self‑managed environments.

Responsibilities

Ensure the reliability of GitLab’s release process and create automation frameworks.
Develop new release features and replace legacy custom tools.
Collaborate with product teams to design solutions that accelerate their releases.
Build scalable code frameworks and add observability to critical components.
Partner with other infrastructure groups to minimise impact of code changes on user‑facing products.
Participate in on‑call rotation and support operational incidents when required.
