Junior Engineer - GBS Engineering

About the role

As a Junior Engineer in the GBS Engineering team at Flex’s Chennai facility, you will support product development and manufacturing operations by handling part numbers, BOM structures, and engineering change orders using Agile PLM and BAAN systems. The role involves collaborating with engineering, materials, and business partners to ensure smooth new‑product introductions and continuous process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Create part numbers, AVL, and BOM structures for new products in Agile and BAAN, and set up product numbers.
• Act as Change Analyst during NPI, managing ECO creation, review, routing, tracking, and release for new models and updates.
• Download and release customer documents, maintain price matrix, and manage BOM and part lists across global manufacturing sites.
• Coordinate with engineering and materials teams, respond to business partner and customer queries regarding ECOs and product changes.
• Generate and circulate reports, dashboards, and customized process‑improvement analyses; conduct root‑cause analysis and drive operational efficiencies.
• Train new and existing team members on tools and processes, ensuring adherence to process metrics and shift requirements.

Eligibility

• B.E degree in ECE, EEE or E&I (or equivalent) graduate.
• 0‑2 years experience in NPI/ECO engineering within an EMS or manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to work night shifts and good communication skills in English.

Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.
• Hands‑on experience with ERP (BAAN) and PLM tools (Agile) for ECO and BOM management.
• Knowledge of NPI processes, price matrix handling, and engineering change order workflows.
• Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective coaching, mentoring, and teamwork capabilities.
• Good written and verbal English communication.
