About the role

Canonical is looking for a remote Web Frontend Engineer to craft data‑rich, high‑performance user interfaces using JavaScript, CSS, React, TypeScript and Flutter. You will contribute to the company’s open‑source React toolkit, help shape API interactions, and support both web and desktop experiences for Ubuntu‑based enterprise products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and test web and Flutter front‑ends that meet accessibility and performance standards.
  • Debug user‑reported issues and deliver reliable fixes.

  • Collaborate with community members and internal teams to define specifications.

Eligibility

  • Strong academic record with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
  • Self‑motivated, well‑organized and able to meet delivery schedules.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Hands‑on experience building web applications using TypeScript, React or Flutter.
  • Good understanding of accessibility, performance optimisation and Linux environments.
  • Willingness to travel twice a year for in‑person team sprints.
