Junior Software Development Engineer in Test

About the role

Apple is seeking a Junior Software Development Engineer in Test to join its Retail Engineering team in Bangalore. The role focuses on designing and automating tests for web, API, and iOS/iPad applications, leveraging Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python and modern frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, and Appium, while also exploring GenAI‑driven testing enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Design and author test cases, plans, and strategies aligned with product specifications and user journeys.
• Perform functional, exploratory, regression, end‑to‑end and integration testing across web, API and native iOS/iPad apps.
• Develop and maintain automated test suites using Selenium, Playwright, or Appium.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers and fellow QE engineers to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
• Investigate test failures, conduct root‑cause analysis and work with engineers to resolve defects.
• Utilize GenAI tools such as ClaudeCode and GeminiCLI to streamline and augment testing activities.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–2 years of hands‑on experience in software quality engineering.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language like Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and testing of web, API, and iOS/iPad native applications.
