Software Engineer I, Frontend (Upfunnel)

About the role

Affirm is looking for a junior Frontend Engineer to join the Upfunnel team, building pre‑checkout experiences that help shoppers understand financing options. You will work on high‑traffic components such as Affirm.js, promotional messaging, experimentation frameworks, and internal tooling, ensuring they are reliable, accessible, and performant.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance high‑traffic frontend features across Affirm.js, promotional messaging, experimentation, and developer‑facing tooling.
• Collaborate proactively with teammates and stakeholders, communicating risks and trade‑offs clearly.
• Balance speed and quality to meet business goals while safeguarding system stability.
• Utilize browser debugging, monitoring, metrics, and testing tools to maintain cross‑browser reliability and address operational issues.
• Contribute to team culture through mentorship, growth activities, and knowledge sharing.

Eligibility

• Previous work or internship experience building web applications with React or Vue.
• Hands‑on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Ability to translate business scenarios into clean, well‑tested, extensible code.
• Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing constructive code reviews.
• Proactive ownership of personal growth, seeking feedback from peers and managers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
