Larsen & Toubro Limited, commonly known as L&T, is an Indian multinational conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The group operates across engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), heavy engineering, manufacturing, defence, power, real estate, financial services, and information technology, and is one of the largest Indian private-sector employers and contractors. L&T was founded in 1938 by Danish engineers Henning Holck-Larsen and Soren Kristian Toubro, originally as a representative office for European industrial machinery. Over decades it grew into a fully Indian engineering and construction company with operations across India, the Middle East, Africa, and South-East Asia. L&T is publicly listed on the BSE and NSE and is a constituent of the Nifty 50. The IT services arm of the group, LTIMindtree (formed by the merger of Larsen & Toubro Infotech and Mindtree in 2022), operates as a separately listed entity. L&T Technology Services, the engineering-research-and-development services arm, is also separately listed. Together with the core L&T parent, these businesses recruit at scale across Indian engineering institutes.
