Aptiv PLC is a global automotive technology company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland that designs and manufactures vehicle components and software for the world's largest automakers. The company specialises in advanced safety systems, autonomous driving, electrification architectures, and high-speed data and signal distribution that enable software-defined vehicles. Aptiv was formed in December 2017 when Delphi Automotive PLC separated its powertrain segment as Delphi Technologies and renamed its remaining electrical, electronic, active-safety, and software businesses Aptiv. The company traces its lineage to Delphi Corporation, which was spun off from General Motors in 1999, and ultimately to General Motors' United Motors Service division founded in 1909. Aptiv is incorporated in Jersey and operated as a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker APTV before announcing in early 2025 a plan to redomicile its parent entity in Switzerland. Aptiv organises its business into two segments: Signal and Power Solutions, which produces wiring harnesses, connectors, cable assemblies, and high-voltage electrical centres for combustion, hybrid, and battery-electric vehicles; and Advanced Safety and User Experience, which delivers active-safety controllers, ADAS sensors and software, and in-cabin user-experience platforms. In 2020 Aptiv and Hyundai Motor Group launched the Motional joint venture to commercialise SAE Level 4 autonomous driving systems. The company employs roughly 200,000 people across more than 50 countries. India operations include technical centres in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune that support engineering, software development, embedded systems, and manufacturing for global vehicle programmes.
