Software Engineer (Frontend UI), Git Native

About the role

Postman is building a Git‑native API client that brings repository, filesystem and cloud state directly into a polished React interface. As a Frontend UI Engineer you will craft intuitive workflows for browsing, editing, reviewing and synchronising code, while also contributing to the underlying Node.js/Electron infrastructure that powers the desktop experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement user‑friendly Git‑native workflows for file navigation, change review, conflict resolution and collaboration.
• Translate complex Git, filesystem and cloud data into responsive React components that scale to large repositories.
• Contribute to Node.js and Electron layers, including IPC, workers and command‑line integrations when needed.
• Define behaviour for long‑running operations such as progress reporting, cancellation, retries and diagnostics.
• Ensure accessibility, keyboard‑first interaction and high performance across platforms.
• Write comprehensive unit, integration and end‑to‑end tests, and use instrumentation to gather user feedback.

Eligibility

• 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on frontend development.
• Strong command of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML and CSS.
• Solid experience with Node.js and Electron or similar desktop frameworks.
• Practical knowledge of Git, filesystem concepts and command‑line workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to model complex asynchronous UI state while maintaining performance and accessibility.
• Experience writing testable, maintainable code and using component or integration testing tools.
