Software Engineer, Frontend (React)

About the role

Plane is looking for a frontend engineer to own user‑facing surfaces of its open, local‑first work management client. You will build fast, offline‑capable interfaces, extend collaborative editing, and ensure performance for dense views that handle thousands of items.

Responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end development of UI components, from design review to rollout.
• Extend local‑first sync and collaborative editing layers, handling serialization and conflict resolution.
• Optimize dense views using virtualization, memoization, and efficient render paths.
• Implement offline support with Service Workers and IndexedDB for low‑connectivity environments.
• Collaborate daily with designers and backend engineers across San Francisco and Hyderabad.
• Investigate and fix visual/behavioral bugs across browsers and self‑hosted deployments.

Eligibility

• 2+ years of professional experience building React and TypeScript applications.
• Strong understanding of state management (MobX, Redux, Zustand or similar).
• Proficiency in CSS, preferably using Tailwind or comparable systems.
• Experience working with shared component libraries.
• Ability to reason about performance and offline‑first architectures.
