Frontend Engineer - Payment Systems

About the role

PayPay India is looking for a seasoned Frontend Engineer to craft high‑scale payment interfaces for millions of users. You will work on micro‑frontends, design‑system components, and collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver reliable, performant payment experiences.

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into clean, reusable UI components with predictable data flow.
• Extend and maintain the design system using tools such as Storybook, ensuring accessibility and consistency.
• Implement robust data‑fetching patterns, handling pagination, caching, and error states gracefully.
• Write modular, well‑structured code separating presentation, business logic, and API layers.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, applying memoization, debouncing, or virtualization where appropriate.
• Participate in code reviews, enforce testing standards, and improve i18n and build tooling.
• Collaborate with PMs, designers, and backend engineers to clarify requirements and iterate quickly.
• Join on‑call rotations, use observability tools like Sentry and New Relic to troubleshoot production issues.
• Gradually take ownership of backend APIs using Node.js frameworks such as NestJS or Express.

Eligibility

• 4‑6 years of professional frontend development experience.
• Strong foundation in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Hands‑on experience with React and/or Vue.
• Ability to design low‑level frontend architecture and write production‑grade code.
• Proficiency in performance tuning and web‑relevant data structures.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools.
