Associate AI or ML Engineer

About the role

Optum India is looking for an Associate AI/ML Engineer who will design, build, and maintain software that brings machine‑learning models into production. You will work on a variety of AI domains such as natural language processing, computer vision, and speech recognition, collaborating closely with data scientists and product teams to deliver health‑focused solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain code that deploys ML models and algorithms in production environments.
• Implement AI/ML solutions covering NLP, NLU, computer vision, deep learning, ASR, and intent classification.
• Handle large‑scale data processing using appropriate frameworks.
• Apply statistical, probabilistic, and optimization techniques to address business challenges.
• Prepare datasets, perform feature engineering, and evaluate model performance.
• Write clean, production‑grade code and support AI/ML tooling.
• Communicate technical insights and results to leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data scientists, AI researchers, product owners, and software engineers to move models from prototype to production.

Eligibility

• Graduation (B.E, B.Tech, B.Sc, M.Sc, M.Tech or equivalent) in Computer Science, AI, ML, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields.
• Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, data structures, algorithms, and object‑oriented programming.
• Basic understanding of statistics, probability, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC) with version control (Git).
• Hands‑on experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java or Scala.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning frameworks like Scikit‑learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Ability to learn new AI/ML technologies quickly and work under guidance from senior engineers.
