Frontend Software Engineer, ChatGPT Space

About the role

The ChatGPT Space team seeks a senior frontend engineer to craft a real‑time collaborative workspace. You will translate design concepts into fast, reliable web experiences that let users and AI agents co‑create documents, spreadsheets, and slides within a shared canvas.

Responsibilities

• Develop and launch high‑quality UI components for collaborative workflows in the ChatGPT Space product.
• Work hand‑in‑hand with designers to convert prototypes into production‑ready interfaces, handling layout, typography, motion and interaction details.
• Create intuitive tools for editing shared content, organizing project context, and reviewing contributions from teammates and AI.
• Define and own frontend architecture decisions, including component systems, state management, routing and rendering performance.
• Enhance reliability through testing, instrumentation, accessibility improvements, and robust handling of loading states, errors and concurrent edits.
• Partner with research, platform and backend teams to integrate model capabilities into cohesive creation and collaboration experiences.

Eligibility

• Minimum four years of professional frontend development experience.
• Deep proficiency with modern React and TypeScript ecosystems.
• Strong sense of UI craftsmanship and ability to collaborate closely with design.
• Track record of delivering performant, responsive, and accessible web applications.
