About the role

Onit is seeking a Legal AI Researcher to join its AI‑centric product team in Pune. Working in a hybrid setting, you will blend legal expertise with AI development to ensure the platform’s features are trustworthy, compliant and aligned with regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with senior legal engineers and AI engineers, contributing to product design, risk validation and audit readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in product design discussions, representing legal and trust considerations from concept to release.
  • Define research methodologies, organise baselines and execute structured legal AI workflows.
  • Assist audits, draft privacy statements, create model fact‑sheets and maintain audit logs.
  • Conduct ethical, legal and operational risk assessments, update the AI risk registry and validate outputs for compliance.
  • Monitor evolving regulations, integrate findings into trust frameworks and support prompt engineering improvements.
  • Partner with AI engineering teams to deliver legally sound AI solutions and perform independent validation of features before launch.

Eligibility

  • Possess a recognised legal degree or equivalent experience in LegalOps.
  • Background in legal matter or spend management is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, documentation and organisational abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate legal requirements for product and engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and eagerness to learn in a legal‑tech environment.
