About the role

Newton School is hiring an SDE 1 to develop and ship polished web experiences for its ed‑tech platform. The role involves building product surfaces using React and Next.js, improving performance, and collaborating closely with design and product teams. Candidates should have 1–2 years of professional experience delivering production‑grade web applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop responsive web interfaces and full product flows with React and Next.js.
• Optimize Core Web Vitals, rendering performance, accessibility and reliability.
• Implement and maintain state management using Redux or Redux Toolkit.
• Write clean, maintainable code, conduct code reviews and fix bugs.
• Translate design mockups into production‑ready components with attention to detail.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to contribute ideas and improve features.

Eligibility

• 1–2 years of professional experience building production web applications.
• Strong fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React and Next.js.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Good problem‑solving, debugging skills and clear communication.
