About the role

Intel is looking for a CPU Physical Design Engineer to take CPU blocks from RTL through to a manufacturable GDSII database. The position is based in Bangalore and requires hands‑on work with synthesis, placement, routing, clock‑tree synthesis and power‑distribution analysis to meet tight performance, power and area targets.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the full physical design flow for CPU cores, including synthesis, floor‑planning, placement, routing and clock‑tree synthesis.
  • Run static timing analysis, power‑distribution checks and reliability verification to ensure design closure.
  • Collaborate with logic, circuit, architecture and automation teams to refine micro‑architectures and improve design methodologies.
  • Partner with EDA vendors such as Synopsys and Cadence to enhance tool capabilities for high‑speed, low‑power CPU development.
  • Optimize designs for power, frequency and area, delivering improvements to product‑level metrics.
  • Contribute to the evolution of physical‑design methodologies and flow automation for future projects.

Eligibility

  • B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics engineering.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in CPU or ASIC physical design.
  • Eligibility to work onsite in Bangalore, India.

Skills

  • Strong expertise in synthesis, placement, clock‑tree synthesis and routing tools (Synopsys, Cadence).
  • Proficiency in timing sign‑off, formal verification and low‑power design techniques.
  • Good understanding of sub‑micron process nodes, layout verification (LVS/DRC) and power delivery.
  • Experience with power estimation, optimization and reliability analysis.
