Software Development Engineer Intern

About the role

HackerRank is looking for enthusiastic Software Development Engineer Interns to join its Bangalore office for a six‑month, full‑time internship starting 5 January 2027. Interns will work on real production features, tackling scalability, performance and product impact while collaborating closely with product, design and QA teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, code, test and launch end‑to‑end full‑stack features.
• Improve system latency, reliability and scalability through performance tuning and caching.
• Rapidly prototype ideas, run experiments, analyse metrics and iterate.
• Continuously push enhancements and refactor existing code.
• Participate in planning, specification reviews and cross‑functional collaboration.

Eligibility

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s degree program (B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc).
• Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++).
• Understanding of APIs, web services and databases.
• Clear communication and collaborative problem‑solving skills.
• Passion for clean, maintainable code and product impact.
• Open‑source contributions, side projects, hackathon wins or technical writing are a plus.
• Familiarity with AI/ML tools, performance profiling, caching and cloud services is advantageous.
